Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important official commented the attack left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
