Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
